Palermo - Agrigento Tour
31 May – 6 June 2019

This is a unique opportunity to explore the history, literature and food of Sicily from ‘the inside’. We will be staying at two wonderful venues. Firstly, in Palermo, we will spend two nights at the last address of Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa, the author of The Leopard, which is now looked after by his adopted son Gioacchino and wife Nicoletta, (the Duke and Duchess of Palma). The palazzo also holds the museum of the writer’s home and there will be the chance to discuss his life and work with the family.

Then, after moving to Agrigento, we will spend four nights at Fattoria Mose, a beautiful agriturismo owned by the family of the author Simonetta Agnello Hornby. Simonetta’s sister Chiara Agnello is a terrific cook and great host.

In Agrigento we will visit the Valley of the Temples  and the Kolymbethra Garden and talk about the great Sicilian writers who come from the area, including Luigi Pirandello, Leonardo Sciascia and Andrea Camilleri, author of the Montalbano books.

We think this is the ultimate tour for people interested in the history, literature, culture and food of Sicily and expect it to be a very special week. We think it is a good deal!
