We will be staying at Fattoria Mose, a beautiful agriturismo owned by the family of the author Simonetta Agnello Hornby. Simonetta’s sister Chiara Agnello is a terrific cook and great host. http://www.fattoriamose.com
The week will be led Geoff Andrews, writer and historian, and Giuseppe Taibi, Sicily Regional President of FAI (Italy’s National Trust) and Agrigento champion. We will be helped along the way by local guides, food producers, and members of local associations. We will go at a relaxed pace, with plenty of time to enjoy the food, wine and climate.
We will visit the Valley of the Temples, the Kolymbethra Garden and the Roman temples with visits to the nearby towns of Racalmuto and Aragona and the famous Scala dei Turchi. There will be informal talks on the great Sicilian writers who come from the area, including Luigi Pirandello, Leonardo Sciascia (whose centenary is in 2021) and Andrea Camilleri, author of the Montalbano books.
We think this is the ultimate tour for people interested in the history, literature, culture and food of Sicily and expect it to be a very special week. We think it is a good deal!
